During today's award ceremony, Mr. Ching-Chang Lien, Director-General of the Industrial Development Bureau at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, bestowed the Product Innovation Award upon Chitec, recognizing their exceptional dedication and groundbreaking advancements in the realm of chemistry.

Particularly noteworthy is R-455's significant achievements in the field of polyurethane materials, notably in the application of aromatic polyurethane (TPU), where its outstanding performance has redefined the capabilities of both the material itself and its market applications.

Revolutionizing Coatings and Plastics: R-455's Impact on Weathering and UV Absorption

R-455's applications span across two major industries: coatings and plastics. Within the realm of high-molecular-weight materials, R-455 serves as an exceptional weathering modifier for polyurethane elastomers, resins, amino resins, polyester resins, and siloxane resins. This unique property enhances the weathering and chemical resistance attributes of these materials at their core.

Heidi Lu, further emphasized that R-455 has demonstrated its involvement in polymer chain-extension reactions, showcasing remarkable reaction conversion rates. This capability propels ultraviolet absorbers (UVAs) into a new dimension within coatings. Formulation designers can now "predict" and design effective, enduring anti-UV coatings based on Beer's Law. By extending the concept, UVAs' role within coatings transcends from mere "protection" to encompassing "optical" performance. This groundbreaking innovation opens up a new chapter in the field of UV absorbers, injecting invaluable innovation into the paint and plastics industries.
