Driven by environmental regulations such as RoHS and WEEE there is an increasing demand for developing flame retardants without adverse effects to the environment or to public health. Chitec recently introduced a novel and highly efficient non-halogenated intumescent flame retardant based on pyrophosphate chemistry for polyolefin such as PP, PE and EVA. This new product, designated Zuran® 484, has numerous advantages over the commercial halogen-containing intumescent flame retardants.
