Since being founded in 1998, Chitec has worked
hard to survive and succeed in the highly competitive chemical industry.
We have built plants, expanded capacities, and cut costs to be competitive.
Chitec has gradually established itself as a leader in the plastics additives
and radiation curing industry over the past 9 years. However, it also has
witnessed the huge impact of the chemical industry on environmental change,
i.e. global warming, in the same time period. Taiwan, where Chitec’s headquarters
are located, recorded historically high temperatures in the summer of 2006
which resulted in a severe drought seriously affecting the lives of the
people that live here. Mountains 4000 meters
in height, thousand-year old forests, sandy beaches, and many beautiful
islands are common in Taiwan. They are treasured as gifts from God just
like the natural treasures in so many other places on this earth of ours.
As a mid-size, public chemical company, Chitec asked itself what its strategy
is to protect these treasures without hurting its earnings as a company?
In January 2007, Chitec's board made an announcement
that "Sustainability* through Chemistry" will be Chitec's primary guideline
for both future research and marketing development. Chitec will use chemistry
as a tool to enforce sustainability and develop new products which fall
into the following categories:
Made by a green process or made of eco-friendly raw
materials ;
Energy-saving or natural resource saving;
Environment-friendly product to replace an environment-destroying product;
